19 Subdistricts In Banyuwangi Potentially Natural Land Of Movement, BPBD Asks Residents Not To Panic But Stay Alert

BANYUWANGI - A total of 19 sub-districts in Banyuwangi, East Java have the potential to experience the phenomenon of land shifting. Banyuwangi residents are advised to be vigilant.

Secretary of the Banyuwangi Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Mujito said the 19 sub-districts referred to include Kalibaru, Glenmore, Sempu Genteng, Gambiran, Bangorejo.

Next, Pesanggaran, Purwoharjo, Tegaldlimo, Srono, Singojuruh, Songgon, Rogojampi, Kabat, Banyuwangi, Glagah, Giri, Kalipuro and Wongsorejo.

"The areas that are in fact vulnerable are in the valley and river cliffs. If there is high intensity rain, the area is prone to landslides," said Mujito, Thursday, February 3.

However, continued Mujito, residents in the area do not need to panic or react excessively. According to him, regarding information on movable land, residents must react wisely.

"Because this is still potential, it may or may not happen. Hopefully, with this information, the public can be wiser and increase their awareness," he said.

In the near future it will immediately conduct outreach to a number of these areas. BPBD will provide understanding and disaster mitigation.

"Currently there are 15 disaster-responsive villages, especially in disaster-prone areas. We are trying to reach all areas so that people know what steps need to be taken when a disaster occurs," he said.
