Riau Islands Governor Concerned Personal Guard From Police Arrested For Sabu 6.7 Kg

TANJUNGPINANG - The Governor of the Riau Islands Province (Kepri) Ansar Ahmad did not expect and was concerned that his personal guard police officer with the initials ARG was arrested for being involved in a crime of 6.7 kilograms of methamphetamine.

Ansar said that ARG had only served as a personal bodyguard for the last three months. According to him, he is rarely active and even less communicative.

"Even if we meet, at least say hello. He is a quiet person," said Ansar in Tanjungpinang, as reported by Antara, Thursday, February 3.

Ansar asked the Riau Islands Police to thoroughly investigate the drug network involving ARG. He handed over the entire legal process of ARG to police investigators.

He also fully supports if the police want to do urine tests on people in the Riau Islands Provincial Government who have been around ARG.

"Go ahead, if it is necessary to do a urine test," said Ansar.

Furthermore, Ansar also appealed to all his staff, especially ASN, not to get entangled in narcotics trafficking, whether they are users or dealers.

The former legislator of the DPR RI did not hesitate to take firm action if any ASN was involved in drug cases.

"If you want to be a drug user or dealer, just stop being a civil servant," he emphasized.

The Head of Public Relations of the Riau Islands Police, Harry Goldenhardt, said that the ARG police were arrested by the Tanjungpinang Police Satnarkoba Team along with two other suspects with the initials M and BTP on Bintan Island, Monday, January 24, 2022.

Of the three, the police confiscated evidence of 6.7 kilograms of methamphetamine.

The third case is now being handled by the Narcotics Directorate of the Riau Islands Police. Investigators are currently investigating the motives of the perpetrators and the origins of the drugs.

The actions of the three suspects violated Article 114 Paragraph (2) or Article 112 Paragraph (2) Juncto Article 132 Paragraph (1) Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with a threat of life imprisonment and a maximum of 20 years.

"Especially for ARG police officers, there is an additional penalty of dismissal from the Polri unit," said Head of Public Relations of the Riau Islands Police, Harry Goldenhardt.
