LOMBOK - The government of Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) held an operation for a cheap cooking oil market in Tastura Praya Square at a price of Rp. 14 thousand per liter.

"This cheap market was held to suppress the good price of cooking oil earlier this year," said Head of the Central Lombok Industry and Trade Office, HM Suhartono in Praya as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, February 2.

The low-cost market operation, which was held for two days, was also intended to help the community buy cooking oil at affordable prices. "The cooking oil prepared for this market operation is 3600 liters," he said.

He said residents who would buy cooking oil during market operations had to bring coupons that had been given to them by the local government. This is done for equal distribution, so that purchases are limited according to the coupons carried.

"One coupon for two liters at a price of Rp. 28 thousand," he said.

To prevent the transmission of the COVID-19 virus, all residents are required to implement health protocols by wearing masks and maintaining social distance.

"We are still implementing the health protocol, if they don't wear masks, they are not allowed to buy cooking oil," he said.

At the location, a number of residents from various kelurahan were seen arriving and lining up while carrying coupons and they went forward one by one to buy cooking oil at the booth that had been prepared. The activity was also escorted by the police and Central Lombok SatPol PP.
