COVID-19 Bed At Friendship Hospital Has Passed The Safe Threshold

JAKARTA - The surge in the third wave of COVID-19 cases has resulted in the bed occupancy ratio (BOR) at the Jakarta Friendship Center General Hospital continuing to increase, even exceeding the safe threshold.

The President Director of the Friendship Hospital, Agus Dwi Susanto, explained that BOR currently reaches 84.61 percent. This figure exceeds the safe BOR limit set at 65 percent.

"As of 6 a.m. today, there are 55 COVID-19 patients from the capacity of 65 beds that we have prepared. The movement is quite volatile. So, this afternoon there could be more," Agus said in a virtual discussion, Wednesday, February 2.

Then, Agus revealed that Persahabatan Hospital is planning to increase the capacity of COVID-19 beds if the number of patients continues to grow. In addition, additional health workers are also prepared.

Furthermore, Agus said that until now, Friendship Hospital has treated 156 COVID-19 patients since early January 2022. Of the cases treated, 8 patients died.

"There have been quite a number of patients who have gone home this January, there are 91 people. Those who are still being treated until February 2 are 55. Most of them are Indonesian citizens," he said.

Meanwhile, Agus continued, 56 of the 156 patients were confirmed positive for the Omicron variant of Covid-19, while 100 others were not Omicron.

"If you look at the pattern, the trend is getting here, the proportion is almost 50 percent Omicron. In the future, it is predicted that Omicron will dominate in February," concluded Agus.
