West Java Targets 36 Million Tourist Visits This Year

BANDUNG - The West Java Provincial Government is targeting the visit of 36 million domestic tourists and 33 thousand foreign tourists to tourist attractions in this area during 2022.

"And our target this year is 36 million domestic tourists and 33 thousand foreign tourists. For this year, our analysis is that there is an increase in visits because people want to do big outdoor activities. Benny said the target of tourist visits was a manifestation of the West Java Provincial Government to improve the regional economy, especially the tourism sector as an economic locomotive in West Java.

He said, there are a number of ways to boost tourist visits to West Java, one of which is to increase infrastructure needs and create tourist destinations that are in line with market needs.

"The West Java Governor's dream is tourism connectivity with other tours. The strategy is that we have to sell something the market wants, so that people's interest will be higher. This includes preparing supporting facilities," said Benny.

According to Benny, local government needs to be careful in creating new tourist points that can provide added value to the community.

"We invite regencies and cities to play an active role in exploring their area. For example, along the coast of South West Java there are many good tourist spots. Local governments must be more observant in seeing opportunities," he said.

Benny analyzes that public interest in con erular tourism has tended to be high lately and this potential can be utilized by local governments to develop tourist villages.

"The concept of Rular tourism has great potential compared to artificial destinations. For example, many touring people, backpackers, camper vans are now booming. This is an added value without damaging the ecosystem. All you have to do is provide electricity, additional infrastructure. This is what is being encouraged," said Benny.
