Brimob Members Shoot Illegal Miners On Buru Island, Maluku, Have Been Arrested And Will Be Fired By Polda

JAKARTA - Illegal miner M. Nurlatu (49) was shot dead by a member of the Brimob Brigade AB in Dava Village, Wailata District, Buru Island Regency, Maluku. The shooting was said to have been triggered by a misunderstanding.

"Yes, that's right, we have secured the person concerned (Bripka AB, ed)," said Head of the Maluku Police Public Relations Kombes Muhammad Roem Ohoirat to VOI, Sunday, January 30.

However, Roem did not elaborate on the misunderstanding that was said to be the trigger for the shooting that took place on Saturday, January 29. However, it was emphasized that Bripka AB has now been arrested.

"The person concerned is detained at the Regional Police," said Roem.

Meanwhile, for the handling of the case, Roem ensured that Bripka AB would be processed in a professional and criminal manner. Where, the Brimob member is likely to be fired.

The dismissal of Bripka AB as a member of the National Police was the wish of the victim's family which was conveyed to the Maluku Police Chief Inspector General Lotharia Latif.

"Earlier, the Kapolda met with the victim's family. The family asked for the perpetrator to be sanctioned according to the rules and fired. The Kapolda agreed," said Roem.

But in the process still have to follow the rules. Bripka AB must undergo a professional ethics trial first.
