Samsung Has A Clamshell Folding Screen Concept
JAKARTA - After launching the Samsung Galaxy Fold, it became the first folding screen phone to hit the market. The cellphone manufacturer from South Korea is again teasing the public with its new folding screen concept smartphone.
Unlike the Galaxy Fold, the appearance of the smartphone follows the clamshell design or old folding cellphones. That is, the top screen will stick to the bottom screen when folded.
"The new form that we are currently exploring can not only be put in a pocket, but it will change the way you use your smartphone," said Hyesoon Jeong, Head of Samsung Framework R&D Group, as quoted by The Verge.
The main idea of this foldable cellphone concept is to bring the folding screen technology and take advantage of this technology to make the cellphone even smaller, and penetrate the form factor of a new device.
In addition to the video demonstration of the concept phone, Samsung did not reveal much other information, such as when Samsung will realize this concept phone. The South Korean company did not disclose any developments in their folding screen technology.
At the Developer Conference Day event, Samsung discussed more about updating the One UI system as a result of its collaboration with Android. With the presence of One UI 2, Samsung wants to provide an experience that is both easier and more innovative, especially for folding screen mobile devices.
There is a possibility that this new smartphone concept will be the successor to the Galaxy Fold. Given that Samsung is still messing around with various problems on the first version of the Galaxy Fold screen.
