Serui Hospital Really Needs Lung Specialists To Handle TB Patients

JAKARTA - Serui Hospital, Yapen Islands Regency, Papua, requires lung specialists to treat and treat 565 TB sufferers who need continuous treatment.

Director of Serui Hospital, Dr. Jhonny Abaa, told ANTARA on Sunday that currently there are 565 TB sufferers who need specialist doctors.

"Indeed, this hospital does not yet have a lung specialist, so residents affected by tuberculosis are handled by general practitioners who consult with a lung specialist at the Jayapura Hospital for the administration of medicines," said Dr. Abaa while admitting that the drug procurement was carried out through the Yapen Islands Health Office.

Of the 565 people affected by TB, 10 of them were children.

The spread of TB is suspected to be through air droplets or infected from families or neighbors affected by TB so that it is hoped that if someone is affected by the disease, the use of eating and drinking utensils must be separated to avoid the spread of the virus.

When asked about cases of patients who were resistant to drugs, Jhonny Aba said, indeed there were cases of patients who were resistant to drugs due to incomplete treatment.

"There were nine patients who were resistant," said dr. Jhonny Aba while hoping that people whose families have TB will help supervise and remind them to take medication on time.

"TB patients must take the drug on time according to the doctor's prescription without breaking up for the specified time so that the treatment is complete," said Jhonny Abaa, quoted by Antara.
