Residents Become Victims Of Bus Falling Into Ice Lake Kill 3 Passengers In Norway, Malaysia Send Team
JAKARTA - Buses falling on ice lakes in Norway claimed the lives of many foreign passengers, including Malaysian citizens. Malaysia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu) immediately sent a team to follow up on the report.
The team came from the Malaysian Embassy (Kedubes) in Stockholm who continued to communicate with Norwegian authorities to gather information regarding residents of neighboring countries who were victims of the bus accident.
"The consular team has been dispatched to provide immediate assistance and support to Malaysian citizens affected by the incident," read a statement from the Malaysian Foreign Ministry, Friday, December 27, quoted from Bernama.
Malaysia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, centered at Wisma Putra, said that the passengers of the accident bus were many foreigners, such as from China, Singapore, India, the Netherlands, Malaysia, South Sudan, France, and Ukraine.

The Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that it was very concerned about the bus accident that occurred on Lake Asvatnet on December 26, 2024 at around 1.30 noon local time.
The accident occurred amid bad weather conditions Norway's winter in the form of heavy snowfall accompanied by strong winds, which caused the bus to lose control and fall.
Of the 58 bus passengers, three died, and four others were seriously injured at the Stokemarknes Hospital.
According to the Malaysian Foreign Ministry, Norwegian authorities managed to evacuate all remaining passengers, despite bad weather hampering early rescue efforts.
