South Sulawesi Ranked 5 Drug Emergency Areas In Indonesia

SULSEL - Head of the Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) of South Sulawesi (Sulsel) Brigadier General Pol. Budi Sajidin declared South Sulawesi a drug emergency.

Budi reflected on data released by the National Narcotics Agency (BNN RI) regarding the Province of South Sulawesi being in fifth place in Indonesia regarding the abuse of narcotics cases.

"During 2021 to 2024, there will be an increase in quantity and prosecution. South Sulawesi is already a drug emergency," he said in Makassar, South Sulawesi, Wednesday, December 25, which was confiscated by Antara.

He said, from data released directly by the Indonesian National Narcotics Agency in 2023, South Sulawesi Province ranks fifth in the misuse of the most narcotics cases in Indonesia with 3,578 suspects.

According to him, the data from the BNN RI shows that South Sulawesi is still in a drug emergency status and is the destination for dealers to distribute these illicit goods.

"This is data released by the National Narcotics Agency (BNN RI) and this shows that South Sulawesi is a drug emergency. This must be fought and not only the task of BNN but all parties must unite against this drug," he said.

Brigadier General Budi Sajidin also hopes for the support of all components of society so that they can assist the South Sulawesi BNNP in dealing with these problems.

His party wants South Sulawesi to be free from the black market and drug abuse so that it is free from these illicit goods.

"We want South Sulawesi to be free from drugs as we have stated with the local government about the 'Direct' program. Shining means Cleaning Drugs," he said.

Meanwhile, the performance achievements of the South Sulawesi BNNP and BNNK in the South Sulawesi Province in 2024 in the field of eradication along with other stakeholders have uncovered 34 drug crime reports (LKN) with 37 narcotics case files.

In that case, 22 files have been transferred to and entered the trial or P21, 15 case files in the investigation process.

The cases that have been revealed involve 35 suspects, with details of 33 suspects and 2 suspects in women.

Based on all the narcotics cases that have been revealed, the South Sulawesi BNNP has confiscated evidence of 1,120.53 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 29,805.79 grams of marijuana, 460 mefedron pills, 325,275 grams of synthetic tobacco and 215,47 grams of marijuana cookies.
