Ahead Of The 2026 World Cup Qualification, PSSI Monitors The Development Of Indonesian National Team Players

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team will continue their struggle in the 2026 World Cup Qualification in March. Ahead of the match, PSSI admitted that it continues to monitor the development of the players as stated by the Indonesian national team manager, Sumardji.

The Indonesian national team will play two matches in the Group C phase of the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification in the Asian Zone. The first match will be played against Australia on March 20, 2025, and Bahrain on March 25, 2025.

Before starting the struggle, Sumardji said the players were currently focusing with their respective clubs because there was no closest agenda with the Indonesian national team. However, PSSI continues to monitor the performance of each player to see its progress.

"Yes, we always communicate with the players. That is, we monitor the development of players at their respective clubs," Sumardji said in a statement quoted on Wednesday, December 25.

"Everything went smoothly and well and there were no problems related to communication," he added about the team's condition.

Currently Shin Tae-yong's team is in third place in Group C standings in the third round of the Asian zone 2026 World Cup Qualifiers with six points. That point is from one win, three draws, and two defeats.

The Indonesian national team set a realistic target in the group phase, which is to be in third and fourth positions. This is so that they can advance to the fourth round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification.

Currently, the top position in Group C is occupied by Japan with ten points. Meanwhile, the second position is occupied by Australia which collects seven points.
