AHY Wants Karawang Fast Train Station To Advance Local Economy

KARAWANG - Coordinating Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) emphasized that the presence of Fast Train Stations in Karawang Regency, West Java, could have a positive impact on economics and nationally.

"The presence of the Karawang High Speed Train Station will be able to increase the number of daily passengers. In fact, if it is fully integrated with the Karawang center, the potential expansion of this transportation service will be even greater," AHY said at the inauguration of the opening of the Fast Train Station in Karawang, reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, December 24.

He expressed hope that related to the existence of the Fast Train Station in Karawang, in the future it can be useful and can have a positive impact on the local and national economy. So that it can also have a positive impact on regional and national development.

In addition, it is also hoped that the presence of the Fast Train Station in Karawang can improve the welfare of the local community.

"Yes, hopefully it can improve people's welfare, and expand investment opportunities, and the economy, both regionally and nationally," said AHY.

Meanwhile, the President Director of PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC), Dwiyana Slamet Riyadi, said that the Karawang Fast Train Station is an important part of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail project.

"After the operation of the Karawang Station, now the fast train network is more complete with four stations," he said.

Since operating on October 17, 2023, the HIGH-speed train has transported more than 7 million passengers, with the current daily passenger number reaching an average of 14 thousand with 20 trips.

Especially in December 2024, he said, the average daily passenger increased to more than 21 thousand, even reaching 24 thousand passengers per day in July 2024.

So far, this achievement has been served by three stations, namely Halim, Padalarang, and Tegalluar. With the operation of the Fast Train Station in Karawang, God willing, the number of passengers will continue to grow," he said.
