KPK Says Part Of The Bribe Money In Harun Masiku's Case Comes From Hasto Kristiyanto

The Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto was named a suspect in a bribery that ensnared former PDIP candidate Harun Masiku and former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan.

Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Setyo Budiyanto said that Hasto was not only actively involved in carrying out bribery efforts to pass Harun Masiku as a elected member of the DPR. Some of the bribes also came from Hasto.

"From the investigation development process, evidence was found that some of the money used to bribe Brother Wahyu came from Brother HK (Hasto)," said Setyo at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Tuesday, December 24.

Hasto is also suspected of regulating and controlling the process of drafting legal studies and encouraging the KPU to make interim changes (PAW) for the elected PDIP candidates in the 2019 Legislative Election to be replaced by Harun Masiku.

Setyo revealed that Hasto was also suspected of deliberately obstructing the investigation into the Harun Masiku case, which is currently still at large.

"I deliberately prevent, obstruct, or thwart directly or indirectly the investigation of corruption," explained Setyo.

Hasto's name is stated in the investigation warrant (sprindik) with the number Sprin.Dik/153/DIK.00/01/12/2024 dated December 23, 2024.

This Sprindik is said to have been signed by the new KPK leadership after the handover of the position on December 20, 2024.

Harun Masiku was named a suspect by the KPK on suspicion of giving gifts or promises to state officials regarding the management of the appointment of elected DPR candidates for the 2019-2024 period at the General Election Commission (KPU).

Harun has been on the wanted list (DPO) since January 17, 2020 after being absent from the summons of KPK investigators. Another party involved in this case is Wahyu Setiawan, a former member of the KPU for the 2017-2022 period, who has been convicted and has served seven years in prison. Wahyu is now released from condition at the Class I Prison in Kedungpane Semarang, Central Java.

With the emergence of news of Hasto's determination as a suspect, the public is waiting for official clarification from the KPK regarding the status of this case.
