Seskab Teddy Denies President Erdogan Walk Out When Prabowo Convicted

JAKARTA - Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya denied Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and delegates left the room or "walk out" when President Prabowo Subianto got his turn to address at the D-8 Summit in Egypt.

Previously, based on a video clip showing a number of delegates from the D-8 Summit walked out of the room when Prabowo delivered his speech at the D-8 Summit which was held in Cairo, Egypt on Thursday (19/12).

"Yes, it's not (walk out). It was in the second session at the D-8 Summit, a special session discussing Gaza and Lebanon. Mr. President Prabowo should be the first speaker, like in session one," said Major Teddy, his nickname, when met at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, December 23.

Teddy explained that in the second session of the D-8 Summit, President Prabowo should have had his first turn when delivering a speech, as in the first session.

However, the first session was delayed beyond schedule, at around 14.30 local time, while the schedule should have been completed at 12.30 local time.

Finally, the second session scheduled to start at 13.00 local time, only started at 15.00 local time.

"Before the second session began, President Prabowo and President Erdogan had lunch together and sat next to each other," said Teddy.

Teddy said that President Erdogan also asked permission to exchange his turn to talk with Prabowo because he wanted to leave the plenary location early.

That way when the second session started, President Erdogan spoke first, and apologized for leaving the summit location.

After President Erdogan finished delivering a speech about Palestinian independence, Teddy said that President Prabowo then had his turn to speak.

In the video, when President Erdogan left the location, it seemed as if he was "walking out" as President Prabowo spoke.
