Postecoglou Not Angry With Two Fraser Forster Blunders
Tottenham Hotspur beat Manchester United 4-3 in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup 2024/2025, Friday, December 20, 2024, early morning WIB.
However, two goals from the Red Devils that brought them closer 2-3 were born from two blunders from the Spurs goalkeeper, Fraser Forster.
The situation is similar, Forster panicked while processing the ball after receiving a backpass. The goalkeeper's pass to defender Bruno Fernandes led to Joshua Zirkzee's goal.
Then conceded the second, Forster controlled the ball for too long so that Amad Diallo finally grabbed it.
Luckily, Spurs moved back 4-2 through Dominic Solanke's goal before Manchester United scored third through Jonny Evans in injury time in the second half.
However, Tottenham's manager, Ange Postecoglou, is reluctant to blame Forster's mistakes. He still encouraged his morale to rise again.
VOIR éGALEMENT:
"He (Forster) was disappointed that he played great for us. Even before that, in the first half, I thought he was very good with his feet, he found some great solutions."
"The first (conceding), maybe slightly influenced his confidence. He lost a bit of confidence. The second (cob) then worsened him."
"However, he is a big player. He is a player who has defended us very well in this period. I can't quite praise this group of players," Postecoglou said after the match.
In fact, in that match, the goalkeepers of both teams were in the spotlight. Altay Bayindir chosen by Ruben Amorim played full rather than Andre Onana seemed nervous considering he rarely started.
The first and fourth conceded Manchester United also contributed to the baby.
First, the ball vomited from the Bayindir block led to Solanke, who opened Spurs' advantage.
Then, the Turkish goalkeeper read the wrong direction of Son Heung-min's corner which finally slid into the goal.
Meanwhile, the victory over Manchester United brought Spurs to the semifinals to meet Liverpool in the two legs which will be played in January and February 2025.
