Argentina Occupies FIFA's Top Ranking For The Second Anniversary

JAKARTA - Argentina ended 2024 as the world number one men's team for the second year in a row according to FIFA rankings.

There have been few changes in the rankings published on Thursday, December 19, 2024, with only 21 international matches taking place since the previous standings were released in November 2024.

Argentina, who won the 2024 Copa America in July 2024, ended the year at the top of France, with the Euro 2024 champions, Spain, completing the top three podiums.

The remainder of the top 10 have not changed. Sequentially in England, Brazil, Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, and Germany.

FIFA says that Angola, which plays the most games in 2024, has recorded the largest development over the past 12 months, up 32 places to 85th.

The next ranking will be published in April 2025 after several matches have been presented, such as the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.

Meanwhile, speaking of the Indonesian national team, Shin Tae-yong's troops were ranked 127th after three AFF Cup matches in 2024.

However, the Garuda squad's journey continued with the match against the Philippines in the final match of the group phase.

If it continues until the semifinals are even final, of course the points of the Indonesian national team will increase which will definitely affect the FIFA rankings.

When the FIFA rankings will be released again in April 2025, the points of the Indonesian national team may increase because there are two 2026 World Cup Qualification matches in March 2025.

The Garuda squad is scheduled to travel to Australian headquarters and host Bahrain that month.
