Ministry Of Law And Human Rights Admits New PMI Management Leader Jusuf Kalla

JAKARTA - The government recognizes the new management and the Articles of Association (AD)/Household Budget (ART) of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) under the leadership of Jusuf Kalla (JK) after conducting a study based on PMI's AD/ART.

Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas explained that the results of the verification of the Ministry of Law (Kemenkum) on the study of PMI leadership dualism cases showed that PMI under the leadership of JK was valid.

"We have given a letter reply to PMI from JK. The reply letter is regarding the recognition of the new PMI management under the leadership of the former Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia," Supratman said after submitting the decree to JK at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Office, Jakarta, Friday, December 20, was confiscated by Antara.

On the same occasion, PMI General Chair Jusuf Kalla said the confession from the Ministry of Law and Human Rights also ended the issue of PMI leadership dualism between himself and the recent Agung Laksono camp.

"So the issues about the existence of new administrators (out of JK management) can be explained. The principle of international PMI is only one PMI in every country, so I think the question of leadership dualism has been resolved," said JK.

Meanwhile, the Director General of General Legal Administration (AHU) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Widodo, said that his staff had conducted a study based on applicable laws and regulations before giving recognition to the PMI management led by JK.

He said the JK group's AD/ART was legal, so the PMI management also participated in the AD/ART.

To note, the emergence of the PMI leadership dualism began with the 22nd PMI National Conference (Munas). In the National Conference, JK was elected as chairman of PMI for the third time.

However, Agung Laksono's group rejected the result. They held a rival to determine a new leader.

Kubu Agung assessed that the National Conference was officially full of irregularities, limited aspirations, and there were efforts to force JK's leadership. They also criticized the discussion of AD/ART which was rejected by JK.

JK also criticized the actions of the Great camp as illegal and reported this to the police. He called the move a betrayal that harmed PMI.

However, Agung emphasized that the issue was only an organizational problem and aimed at improving PMI.

After that, the case was then mediated and followed up with an in-depth study by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.
