Metro Jaya Police Chief Affirms Drug Supervision Tightened Ahead Of Nataru Holiday

JAKARTA - Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Pol Karyoto ensured that his party would increase supervision of drug trafficking during the Christmas and New Year holidays (nataru).

"This drug problem is indeed a concern for all of us," said Inspector General Karyoto when met by reporters in Jakarta on Thursday, December 19.

Karyoto explained that in recent weeks, Polda Metro Jaya has revealed that many drug cases have continued to increase, especially ahead of Naru.

"In recent times, we have succeeded in uncovering the circulation of nearly 300 kg of marijuana. In just this week, almost 100 kilograms. Previously, there was also the confiscation of 300 kg of crystal methamphetamine to 200 kg," he said.

For this reason, the Kapolda ensures that it will strictly monitor drug trafficking, especially in areas known to be vulnerable to being places for the circulation of these illicit goods.

In addition, Karyoto also hopes that the public will be more aware of the dangers of drugs and avoid them. He added that his party is ready to provide rehabilitation for drug addicts. "Not only are we searching, raiding, then arresting, but also looking for solutions. We are thinking about this," explained Karyoto.

Furthermore, the Kapolda stated that villages indicated as centers of drug trafficking would be converted into healthy and productive villages. "In the future, we will go there," he said.
