Quoting from Healthline, sleep with wet hair can also create a moist environment in the scalp. This moisture can trigger the growth of Malassezia mushrooms, which usually grows in the scalp.

If the habit of sleeping with wet hair continues and these mushrooms grow, then a person will experience ketombe problems, seboroik dermatitis, or even mild infections in the scalp.

Not only that, sleeping with wet hair can also increase the risk that the skin gets oilier, which makes the skin moister and triggers an uncomfortable itching. Frequency can also occur if you sleep with wet hair.

Therefore, Dr. Angela Lamb recommends drying hair at least 80 percent before bed, to reduce the various risks above. Cleanness of beds and pillowcases must also be maintained to prevent damage to hair.
