Fajar/Rian Failed To Go To The 2024 BWF World Tour Finals
JAKARTA - The men's doubles pair Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto failed to reach the final round of the 2024 BWF World Tour Finals due to not being able to maintain the advantage in critical situations.
They were forced to play 81 minutes against Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin from Malaysia which ended with a score of 21-17, 16-21, and 25-27 on Saturday, December 14 evening WIB.
"The match was very exciting, especially in the deciding game. Unfortunately, the results are not what we all want, but we have fought our best," said Fajar.
Fajar/Rian appeared almost flawless in the first game. They started the match by immediately stealing two points and then winning 4-2.
The opponent then responded with four consecutive points to put pressure on him. Even so, Fajar/Rian immediately rose again so that he could lead four points in the interval and not be overtaken again after that.
In the second game, the situation turned out to be the dominance of the Malaysian pair. Fajar/Rian had a good moment to lead 9-8, but immediately fell.

Fajar/Rian were on the verge of victory after winning 14-9 in the last game. Unfortunately, they were chased and stuck in crucial points before falling down.
"It must be admitted, when the opponent's settings are more confident, more confident. Even though they are left behind, they are still not careless and can always equalize points," said Rian.
This is the third time that Fajar/Rian have run aground in the semifinals of the BWF World Tour Finals after previously in 2022 and 2023 they were silenced by China.
Fajar/Rian closed this year by winning two titles. They defended the All England trophy and became champions in the Kumamoto Japan Masters.
