PKB Supports Prabowo To Improve Indonesia's Political System, Including Governor Chosen By DPRD

JAKARTA - The chairman of the PKB faction of the DPR RI, Jazilul Fawaid, stated that his party supports President Prabowo Subianto's idea to improve the high-cost political system in Indonesia, including the election of governors through the DPRD.

"We support President Prabowo's idea. It is time for us to improve our high-cost political system," said Jazilul, Friday, December 13.

Jazilul assessed that what President Prabowo said was in line with the attitude of the PKB faction which also proposed improving the political system. One of them is related to the election for governor which is quite elected by the DPRD.

"We have repeatedly conveyed the importance of improving the political system," said the former Deputy Chairperson of the MPR RI.

So far, Jazilul continued, his party proposes that the governor's election be carried out through the provincial DPRD, not directly elected by the people. Because according to him, regional autonomy is actually in districts/cities.

"The governor only carries out the coordination function. So, the governor can be elected by the DPRD. In addition to the governor's election, the regional autonomy is actually in districts/cities," he said.

In addition, PKB also proposed a separation between legislative elections (Pileg) and presidential elections (Pilpres). According to Jazilul, the legislative election is less attention from the public because the public is more focused on presidential elections.

"The presidential and legislative elections need to be separated, so that the legislative elections also get attention. So the legislative elections first then the presidential election," he said.

The legislator for the East Java X electoral district emphasized that the improvement of the political system could be carried out through a revision of the Political Law package that combines a number of laws, such as the Election Law, the Pilkada Law, the Political Party Law, and other laws.

"We really welcome the improvement of the political system going forward," concluded Jazilul.

Previously, when delivering a speech at the celebration of the Golkar Party's anniversary in Sentul, BKamis, December 12, Prabowo night conveyed his idea to improve the political system in Indonesia. Especially related to regional head elections that are considered high-cost.

Prabowo suggested that in the future regional head elections be carried out through their respective DPRDs, so there is no need to spend much money. State money can be diverted for other coincidences.

Prabowo then compared regional head elections in a number of neighboring countries, such as Malaysia, Singapore and India, which were much more efficient.

"Singapore, India, once vote for DPRD members, once vote, it's the DPRD that chooses the governor to choose the regent. Efficients don't come out of money, money comes out, like we are really rich or not," said Prabowo.
