The Indonesian National Team Does Not Use SUGBK As A Kandang In The 2024 AFF Cup, PSSI Gives An Explanation

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team will play home matches in the 2024 AFF Cup by hosting Laos on December 12, 2024. However, for that match, the Garuda Squad will not use the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) as a home venue.

Entertaining Laos, the Garuda Squad will be based at Manahan Stadium, Solo. Regarding the absence of SUGBK as a venue, PSSI apparently has its own reasons.

Through Exco member Arya Sinulingga, he said that SUGBK would not be the home for the Garuda Squad, even though Asnawi Mangkualam and his friends qualified for the semifinals.

The reason for not choosing SUGBK as the home of the Indonesian national team is quite clear because SUGBK is currently still in the process of caring for grass and cannot be disturbed.

"SUGBK definitely not because they are still in the process of maintenance. Yesterday there was also an event at GBK that was not disturbed by the grass. The Christmas event was not disrupted," said Arya Sinulingga, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, December 11, 2024.

Although it is unlikely that they can use SUGBK as the headquarters of the Garuda Team's troops in the 2024 AFF Cup, Arya emphasized that there are still many other options to choose from.

"We are still waiting, there are several stadium options. However, what is certain is that SUGBK will not, yes, it can be Solo (Manahan) too, Pakansari (Bogor) can (Gelora Bung Tomo) Surabaya too. We still see that space," said Arya again.

Currently, the Red-White Team has just picked up the full three points after beating Myanmar 1-0 in their first match in Group B.

With the full three points, the Indonesian national team is now in second place in Group B under Vietnam, which is ahead of goal difference.

After defeating Myanmar, the Indonesian national team will play at home to host Laos at the Manahan Stadium, Solo, Thursday 12 December 2024, at 20.00 WIB.
