President Jokowi Inaugurates Riau Governor Edy Natar Nasution Today

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated Edy Natar Nasution as Governor of Riau today. The inauguration was held at the State Palace, Jakarta.

Monitored from the YouTube Secretariat of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, the inauguration ceremony will be held at 10.30 WIB, Monday, November 27.

The activity began by singing the anthem Indonesia Raya and reading Presidential Decree Number 114P of 2023 concerning Ratification of the Dismissal of the Deputy Governor of Riau for the 2019-2024 Term of Office and Ratification of the Appointment of the Governor of Riau, the Remaining Term of office for 2019-2024.

"Regarding the appointment of Brother Edy Nasution as Riau Governor, the remaining 2019-2024 term of office is calculated from the time of the inauguration," reads the Presidential Decree read by the Deputy for Apparatus Administration of the Ministry of Finance, Nanik Purwanti.

Next, President Jokowi led the reading of the oath of office followed by Edy Nasution. This implementation was attended by a number of invitations, including the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian.

"By Allah, I swear, I will fulfill my obligations as Governor as well as possible and fairly. Upholding the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and carrying out all laws and regulations as straight as possible and serving the community, homeland, and nation," Jokowi said. followed by Edy.

Furthermore, Edy signed the minutes of the inauguration in front of President Jokowi.

For information, Edy previously served as Acting Governor of Riau. He will serve as definitive governor until the end of December 2023 or according to the valid term of office.
