Owners Of 102 Illegal Firearms Sentenced To 2 Years In Prison

BENGKULU - The Panel of Judges at the Bengkulu District Court (PN) sentenced AM (51) to 2 years in prison in connection with the case of assembling, possessing and selling illegal homemade firearms.

The other four defendants, namely H (47), R (38), S (38) and S (45) were sentenced to 11 months in prison, for buying and possessing illegal firearms.

"The five defendants were legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing the crime of possessing illegal firearms with the defendant AM two years in prison and four others 11 years in prison," said Bengkulu District Court Chief Justice Fauzi Isra as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, November 8.

The Panel of Judges stated that the five defendants were proven to have violated Article 1 Paragraph (1) of the Emergency Law Number 12 of 1951 Junto 55 Paragraph 1 1 of the Criminal Code.

"To the defendants, they have the right to declare that they do not agree with the verdict. Or think about it for the next seven days, as well as the prosecutor," he said.

Meanwhile, the Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the Bengkulu High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) Lucky Selvano Marigo said that evidence in the form of bubut machines, electric welding machines, sitting drills and others would be handed over to the world of education.

"From all what was read by the Panel of Judges, including the all of them were taken over by the Judge. Regarding decisions for evidence such as bubut equipment and others, the Judge agreed to be handed over to the world of education while other evidence would be destroyed," he said.

Previously, the Bengkulu Prosecutor's Office demanded that the defendant assemble, ownership and sell illegal homemade firearms, namely AM (51) two years in prison and four other defendants one year in prison.

The high demand for AM is because the defendant has enjoyed the results of making the homemade firearms.

For things that relieve the five defendants, it is not proven that they endanger human lives and are used by the defendants to hunt wild boars and protect themselves.

It is known, in April 2023, the Bengkulu Regional Police (Polda) revealed the case of a firearm industry house in Padang Guci Hilir District, Kaur Regency by confiscating and destroying 102 illegal firearms and arresting five suspects.

For the illegal firearms house industry owned by AM, it has been producing illegal firearms since 2012 in Kaur Regency and serving closed purchases.

Of the 102 illegal firearms consist of 95 illegal long firearms and seven illegal firearms.

Meanwhile, from the arrest of the five suspects, his party also confiscated 339 rounds of illegal ammunition, 143 rounds of illegal casings, four projectiles, firearms makers, one electric welding machine, two sitting drills, one bubut machine unit.

Furthermore, two units of Gerinda machines, 47 units of sandpills, 13 units of cutting gerinda, two units of iron drills, seven units of sitting drills, one unit of drill machine key, two units of electric welding, 29 points of bubut eye.

Two units of illegal firearms, six units of short-barreled illegal firearms, one unit of protection for illegal firearms, three units of slides with illegal firearms, one unit of iron markers, seven units of iron strip plates, 39 units per megazine short-barreled, two units of triggering, four units per slide and three units per barrel of short weapons.
