BTS Kominfo Corruption, Moratelindo Boss Sued 15 Years In Prison

JAKARTA - President Director of PT Mora Telematika Indonesia (Moratelindo) Galumbang Menak Simanjuntak is believed by the prosecutor to be guilty in the alleged corruption case of the 4G base transceiver station (BTS) procurement project and supporting infrastructure packages 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 BAKTI Kominfo. The public prosecutor (JPU) charged him with 15 years in prison.

"(Requesting the panel of judges) Sentenced the defendant Galumbang Menak Simanjuntak to 15 years in prison, completely reduced by the length of time the defendant was detained," said the prosecutor during a trial at the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court, Monday, October 30.

Not only criminal, but the prosecutor also demanded that the defendant Galumbang pay a fine of Rp. 1 billion. If you do not have the ability to fine, you can be replaced with one year in prison.

In the statement, the prosecutor had considerations. For burdensome matters, the defendant Galumbang was deemed not to support the government's program in order to organize a country that is free from corruption, collusion and nepotism.

"The defendant's actions together with other defendants have resulted in state financial losses of Rp. 8 trillion," said the prosecutor.

Meanwhile, mitigating considerations, the defendant Galumbang Menak Simanjuntak has never been convicted, was polite during the trial, and the defendant did not enjoy the results of a criminal act of corruption.

In this case, Galumbang was charged with committing Money Laundering (TPPU) from the results of alleged corruption in the provision of Base Transceiver Station (BTS) 4G towers and supporting infrastructure 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.

Galumbang carried out money laundering together with the Director of BAKTI Anang Achmad Latif, Director of PT Multimedia Berdikari Sejahtera Windi Purnama, and Irwan Hermawan. As a result of its creation, there was a state financial loss of Rp. 8,032,084,133,795.51 (Rp. 8 trillion). This amount is based on the State Financial Losses Calculation Audit Result Report Number: PE-03.03/SR/SR-319/D5/02/2023 dated April 6, 2023 which was carried out by the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP). Galbang was charged with violating Article 2 paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 18 of the Corruption Law in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 to 1 of the Criminal Code and Article 3 of Law Number 8 of 2010 concerning Prevention and Eradication of TPPU in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 to 1 of the Criminal Code.
