Commemorating World Food Day, Presidential Staff School Alumni Present at FAO Headquarters

JAKARTA - Alumni of the Presidential Staff School (SSP) created by KSP met the invitation of the world food agency or FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization) in Rome, Italy, Monday, October 16. They joined delegations from a number of countries to commemorate World Food Day at the 2023 World Food Forum (WFF).

WFF itself is an international forum that provides dialogue between various global stakeholders, including state leaders, farmers and youth. The aim is to discuss food supply strategies around the world for the future.

FAO invited these SSP alumni as a lesson learned for the youth empowerment program to the world. This organization under the United Nations (United Nations) sees that the SSP program can become a new model that can be applied in various countries. Moreover, FAO is currently paying attention to youth issues for the regeneration of farmers.

Alumni who attended representing the SSP program were Bayu Teguh Samudra (first batch of SSP) and Anansia Siena (second batch of SSP). They will accompany KSP Dr. Moeldoko, who was invited by FAO, was the keynote speaker.

"I was asked to share my successful experience of the SSP program as a learning program for the world, especially in terms of youth empowerment," said Moeldoko in a press release received by VOI from the KSP team who was in Rome, Italy.

"FAO hopes that Mr. Moeldoko can introduce youth programs and voice a call for action for young people at the WFF Global Youth Forum," said the official letter delivered by Qu Dongyu, Director General of FAO.

As is known, the Presidential Staff School is a program held by the Indonesian Presidential Staff Office since last year. This program selects 35 applicants who meet the qualifications from tens of thousands of applicants in each class.

The SSP program has been held twice, namely on July 25-29, 2022 for the first batch and July 2-15, 2023 for the second batch. This program aims to prepare Indonesian youth to become future leaders who are able to manage the country with complex capabilities. These two programs have succeeded in producing 69 talented alumni.

These Indonesian representatives will attend the conference for five days, starting from October 16 to 20, 2023. Present at the opening event of this conference include the Presidents of Ireland, Iraq and Paraguay. Apart from that, there are also Prime Ministers from Tanzania, Bhutan and Togo. By participating in WFF 2023, it is hoped that the experience of Bayu Teguh Samudra and Anansia Siena will provide valuable insights in advancing the future of the agricultural sector at the global level.
