YouTube: 90 Percent Of Gen Z In Indonesia Use Shorts
YouTube proudly stated that they are the number one platform sought and used by Generation Z (Gen Z). They took this statement from the results of a survey conducted by Kantar earlier this year.
Asia-Pacific YouTube Regional Director, Ajay Vidyasagar, shared several facts about YouTube in general. So far, YouTube has received 70 billion views every day. This figure is getting stronger in the Southeast Asia region, which is an increase of 130 percent in the average broadcast duration.
From the data they have, Ajay said that Indonesia plays a fairly large role. More than 110 million people in Indonesia use YouTube every day and the majority of users are in the range of ages 18 to 64 years.
This extraordinary achievement occurred because of the various content that YouTube presents. They are able to present videos in the long term, videos in short form such as Shorts, even videos that are broadcast live.
"All of these amazingly rich and diverse content formats are broadcast very smoothly on YouTube," Ajay said at the Southeast Asia Asia Works Awards: The Finale 2023 Thursday 12 October.

Interestingly, 90 percent of Gen Z in the 18 to 24 year age range chose YouTube Shorts to access short videos compared to its competitors such as TikTok and Reels from Instagram.
This data is supported by the recognition of Nessie Judge, one of the content creators on YouTube with more than 10 million subscribers. He believes that YouTube is a very safe platform to access information, especially this platform provides a variety of video formats.
According to him, the majority of Gen Z likes to use YouTube because this platform provides videos with long and short durations. Users also don't need to switch platforms just to suit their wishes.
When we have less time, we can go to Shorts. If we have more time just to review about something or we want something more detailed, yes we missed the term and we don't have to move to other platforms to get it all," explained Nessie.
