Elected As A Constitutional Court Judge, Arsul Sani Will Immediately Resign After The DPR Plenary Session
JAKARTA - Commission III of the DPR agreed to elect Arsul Sani as a candidate for judges of the Constitutional Court (MK). He stated that he would immediately resign as a member of the DPR and PPP cadres after the approval of the plenary meeting scheduled for October 3.
"Of course, after the plenary approval, yes, the first thing I did was resign as a legislative candidate. Because I was listed in DCS, so after going through the procedure at the KPU, of course, my name should no longer be in DCT," said Arsul, Wednesday, September 27.
"Well, after that of course I have to submit a letter of resignation as a member of the DPR. Because I can only be appointed as a judge of the Constitutional Court if I have been dismissed as a member of the DPR," he continued.
The member of Commission III of the DPR explained that the Constitutional Court judge Law should not concurrently become other state officials, including members of the DPR. In addition, it is also not allowed to be members of political parties.
"This means that you must also stop from being a waketum of the PPP DPP. Because in the Constitutional Court Law there is a prohibition against judges from the Constitutional Court from becoming members of political parties," he explained.
As for his resignation at PPP, Arsul said he had to first ask the Acting Chairman of PPP Mardiono. The plan, Arsul will face the chairman of PPP tomorrow to accept directions.
"If I resign, I can't then join the girls, that's it," said Arsul.

Even so, Arsul admitted that he had not immediately brought his resignation letter. Because, he said, he was still waiting for Wahiduddin Adams to turn 70 years old first to replace his duties as a judge of the Constitutional Court.
This means that, according to Arsul, he can still serve as a member of the DPR and PPP's waketum until the end of this year.
"What will be the direction from the Acting Chairman, we will carry it out. Because of this, Mr. Wahiduddin is 70 years old, if I'm not mistaken, it will be on February 17, 2024. Well, he is legally, retired or stopped ending his term of office when he was 70. This means that before he reached the age of 70, I am not yet a judge at the Constitutional Court, so I have a long time when I resign, meaning I can still carry out my duties as a member of the DPR until at least the end of the year," said Arsul.
