Commission III Ensures Neutrality Tests Feasibility Of Candidates For Constitutional Court Judges From DPR Elements

JAKARTA - Member of Commission III of the DPR, Mulfachri Harahap, ensured that Commission III of the DPR would be neutral in conducting fit and proper tests on eight candidates for the Constitutional Court (MK).

The PAN politician said that an independent attitude would also be applied to one of them being a member of Commission III of the DPR from the PPP faction who took part in the feasibility test for the candidate for judge of the Constitutional Court, Arsul Sani.

"This is not the first time Commission III has conducted a fit and proper test on a candidate for constitutional judges from the DPR. In the past there were Said Aqil, Patrialis Akbar, Mahfud MD, we are fit and proper test here, I think of course we will stick to the existing rules regarding that," said Mulfahri at the DPR Building in Jakarta, Monday, September 25. According to him, one thing that is most important for prospective Constitutional Court judges is to have a statesman's attitude.

Mulfachri said that Commission III of the DPR would certainly see and consider whether Arsul Sani deserved to be a judge of the Constitutional Court or not.

"Competence for us is absolute in nature, integrity is the same way, and you know that the position of constitutional judge is the only position that requires that the person concerned must have a statesmanship attitude. That is the material for Commission III before deciding who is worthy to fill the position in the Constitutional Court," said Mulfahri.

Untuk diketahui, delapan nama calon hakim konstitusi yang menjalani uji kelayakan dan kepatutan di Komisi III DPR yakni Reny Halida Ilham Malik, Firdaus Dewilmar, Elita Rahmi, Aidul Fitriciada Azhari, Putu Gede Arya, Abdul Latif, Haridi Hasan, dan Arsul Sani.
