Thousands Of Balpres Of Imported Used Clothing From Malaysia Destroyed By The Kaltara Police In Bogor
A total of 19 containers containing used clothes or balpres were destroyed by the North Kalimantan Regional Police (Polda) at the waste management company PT Prasadha Pramunah Limbah Indonesia (PPLI), in Nambo Village, Klapanunggal District, Bogor Regency, West Java.
Kaltara Police Chief Inspector General Daniel Adityajaya confirmed that the destruction of 1,978 balpres was carried out outside Kaltara due to the large amount of evidence so that the evidence belonging to the suspect Hasbudi could not be destroyed by burning it.
"The destruction of thousands of balpres of used clothing was deliberately carried out at a factory in the Bogor area because it has a destroyer here. Because, it is impossible to destroy it by burning it," he said, Wednesday, September 20.
The Kapolda explained that his party set aside the 1 bale of used Malaysian clothing for the purposes of investigations and evidence in court.
"Thousands of balpres are evidence of the criminal act of trafficking in illegal used clothing imports revealed by the Kaltara Police in 2022," said Daniel.
The disclosure of the case of used imported clothing, continued the Kapolda, stems from the suspect Hasbudi who will send the goods from Malaysia to Makassar and Manado using a motorboat.
"The used clothes from Malaysia were brought into Indonesia through the waters of the mosquito river (Nunukan). Then, they were taken by speed boat to the fishing port of Tarakan city for storage. Then they were collected and brought to Makassar and Manado via the Mahameru ship," said the Kaltara Police Chief.
The disclosure of this case began with illegal mining with the suspect Hasbudi. During a search and several records of goods sent out using containers.
"Then we developed the case by the North Kalimantan Police Ditreskrimsus which directly coordinated with Tarakan Customs and Excise. At that time, the officers monitored the delivery of 17 containers from Malaysia," explained the Kapolda.
In addition to finding large sacks containing used clothes, the police also secured Rp315 million in cash.
"We have secured 14 speedboats, valuables and other documents," explained Daniel.
Meanwhile, the Director of Criminal Investigation at the North Kalimantan Police, Kombes Ronald Ardiyanto Purba, added that thousands of ballpresses had been sent to Bogor since last week.
"The destruction is carried out by being investigated. Regarding the progress of the case, fingerprints are still being processed at the prosecutor's office. The suspect is still one, namely Hasbudi," he added.
The Kaltara Police Chief explained that Hasbudi's role was as a transporier of the used clothes. The case file for the ballpress smuggling case has also entered stage 1.
"The value of the goods is around Rp. 15 billion," he said.
