5 People Were Hit By A Landslide While Looking For Tabas Stone In Karangasem Bali, 3 Of Them Died
DENPASAR - Head of the Bali Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), I Made Rentin, said there were five victims of a cliff landslide in Banjar Dinas Kemoning, Buana Giri Village, Bebandem District, Karangasem Regency, Bali.
Of the five victims, three of them died and two survived minor injuries.
Meanwhile, the three victims who died were I Ketut Sueca (40), I Kadek Pasek (37) and I Kadek Besa (44). The victims were lightly injured, namely I Kadek Besa (34) and I Kadek Suardika (20).
"There has been a landslide that caused five victims," said Rentin, Monday, September 11.
The incident began at around 09.00 WITA when workers came to dig for tabas. They built a cave on the cliff.
"According to the victim's confession, the cave that was created was only about two meters and was only able to work for two hours. Then around 11.00 WITA the land above the location or not inside the cave suddenly fell and hit the victim. The victim who survived the avalanche due to bouncing wood," he added.
The incident was reported by the Village Head of Buana Giri I Nengah Diarasa.
Meanwhile, the material excavation process was carried out using Ni Kadek Tina Yanti's excavator heavy equipment.
"The handling process, currently all victims, both those who died and those who were slightly injured, have been successfully evacuated," he explained.
He also mentioned, in accordance with the mandate of the Governor Regulation (Pergub) Bali Number 37 of 2023 concerning amendments to the
Pergub Number 32 of 2021 concerning guidelines for providing social assistance for victims of death will be given compensation of Rp. 15 million.
"The victims who die will be given compensation of Rp. 15 million each," he said.
