South Kalimantan Dishut Deploys 2 Helicopters To Put Out The Fire In Tahura Sultan Adam

BANJARMASIN - The Forestry Service of South Kalimantan Province (Dishut Kalsel) received assistance from two water booming helicopters to extinguish the source of the fire that hit the Grand Forest Park (Tahura) Sultan Adam Mandiangin, Banjar Regency.

Head of the South Kalimantan Forestry Service, Fatimatuzzahra, said the two helicopters belonged to the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and the Land Task Force.

"The fire was extinguished on Monday at 21.00 WITA," said Fatimatuhzzahra as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, September 6.

Fatimatuhzzahra said that the handling of the forest and land fires that began to occur at around 11.00 WITA involved a joint team from Brigda Karhutla Dishut and Tahura, Polhut, TKPH, Dishut Employees and the Sultan Adam Tahura Task Force, Manggala Agni, Damkar, South Kalimantan BPBD and regencies/cities.

In addition, it also involves all people caring for fire (MPA) under the auspices of Tahura Sultan Adam and water supply support from several tank cars belonging to the Public Works Service (PU) and the Environment Agency (DLH), in addition to tank cars belonging to the Forestry Service, Tahura SA and the Forest Plant Management Center.

Fatimatuhzzahra revealed that joint officers faced obstacles when extinguishing the hotspots due to strong wind speeds and water sources far from the hotspots.

The South Kalimantan Dishut temporarily closed the Tahura Sultan Adam Mandiangin tourist area for visitors until an undetermined time due to forest and land fires (karhutla).

Fatimatuhzzahra said the kahutla did not burn the Tahura tourist attraction facility, Sultan Adam.

However, Fatimatuhzzahra has not been able to confirm the area of forest land burned in Tahura Sultan Adam because it is still in the evaluation process.

"As a result of the forest and land fires incident, we immediately conducted an evaluation with the ranks of the dishut and taura officials, regarding what steps will be taken next," said Fatimatuhzzahra.

Fatimatuhzzahra revealed that the South Kalimantan Dishut increased patrols in the Sultan Adam Tahura area to detect early and avoid casualties due to fires.

Fatimatuhzzahra said that the South Kalimantan Dishut also made fire barriers and roads to follow the existing contours as an effort to control fires and facilitate water supply for forest and land fires extinguishing activities.
