If Fired By PDIP, Budiman Sudjatmiko: Maybe I'll Stay Single First, Going Through Mourning Period

JAKARTA - PDIP politician Budiman Sudjatmiko revealed his steps forward if he was officially dismissed from party membership because he had supported Gerindra chairman Prabowo Subianto as the 2024 presidential candidate.

Budiman said he would stop for a while from political activities. According to Budiman, he will first go through a period of mourning after being fired from the party cadre led by Megawati Soekarnoputri.

This was conveyed by Budiman after attending the PSI National Meeting (Kopdarnas) at Tennis Indoor Senayan, Tuesday, August 22 evening.

"I might consider being single first. Yes, it's like a new person who has lost a spouse, has to go through a long period of mourning. It's definitely mourning," said Budiman.

Budiman admits that he has been attached to PDIP since he was young, when the party was still called PDI. Then, if Budiman has been kicked out of the party and separated from the world of politics for a while, he will again think about his next political goal.

"Of course I'm in politics, for sure. But maybe I was single before, I wasn't married politically," said Budiman.

"Later, after that we will see, is it possible that after several years of my mistakes being forgiven I can register again (to the PDIP). If not accepted, then maybe I can enter PSI, maybe one of them," he added.

Previously, PDI Perjuangan Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto ensured that his party would give strict disciplinary sanctions to its cadres, Budiman Sudjatmiko following a declaration supporting Prabowo Subianto as the 2024 presidential candidate.

Hasto said that sanctions in the form of resignation or dismissal would be announced by the Chairman of the DPP for the Honors Division of PDIP Komarudin Watubun.

"Later, Mr. Komarudin will announce, what is clear is that the party does not tolerate disciplinary action by any party cadre. The party will take firm action, the options are resigning or receiving a dismissal sanction," said Hasto in his statement, Sunday, August 20.

However, on Monday, August 21, PDIP failed to announce Budiman's dismissal from its cadres. The head of the PDI Perjuangan DPP Secretariat, Adi Dharmo, said that his party was busy taking care of the electoral increase in the presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo in the survey.

"Today the PDI Perjuangan is focusing on discussing the results of the Indicator and Kompas survey which show Ganjar Pranowo's electoral gains and a rebound," Adi told reporters, Monday, August 21.

"Unlike Prabowo's electoral trend, which has been stuck and is showing a downward trend," he continued.

According to Adi, this is more important than dealing with Budiman's problems. "That is more important as a political momentum for an increasingly massive movement for Ganjar Pranowo with supporting political parties and volunteers," he concluded.
