Ministry Of Health: COVID-19 Hospital Can Submit Fee Claims Before September 1

JAKARTA - Head of the Health Law Bureau of the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) Indah Febrianti said hospitals (RS) handling COVID-19 patients could claim medical costs before September 1, 2023.

This claim, said Indah, was given as a policy of the Ministry of Health for the transition of regulations, as in Regulation of the Minister of Health (Permenkes) Number 3 of 2023 which explained that financing for COVID-19 patients was borne by the state until its emergency status was revoked through Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 17 of 2023 which was issued on June 21, 2023.

"Meanwhile, Permenkes No. 23 of 2023 only came out on August 4. The time is quite far from Presidential Decree No. 17 of 2023," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, August 21.

Indah emphasized that the application for claims for medical expenses can only be made before September 1, 2023.

Meanwhile, if there are COVID-19 patients afterward, the financing scheme is carried out through the National Health Insurance (JKN) scheme served by BPJS Kesehatan.

The technical instructions are regulated in Permenkes Number 23 of 2023. In addition to this, Permenkes Number 23 of 2023 also emphasized the COVID-19 vaccination policy.

"It was emphasized that the policy for implementing the COVID-19 vaccination was in accordance with the Permenkes, regarding the procurement and implementation of vaccines which will continue until December 31, 2023," he said.

Indah mentioned this as well as following up on President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) directives to continue the COVID-19 Vaccination program until December 2023.

"After December 2023, on January 1, 2024, the immunization program has been implemented which follows the provisions of the Ministry of Health regarding immunization," he said.
