Not Dispolminated By Waste, Bantul DKP Calls Oya River Water Suitable For Developing Local Fish
BANTUL - The Department of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (DKP) of Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region has identified that the water quality of the Selopamioro Adventure Park River, Imogiri District is suitable for local fish development."It's still suitable, the ecosystem is still good, we happen to have identified it in the Oya River, there is not much waste from factory activities or household activities, so it is very suitable for local fish," said Head of DKP Bantul Isaryani in Bantul, Antara, Friday, August 18.According to him, the local fish are like wader pari, tawes, nilem and wader abang fish. Therefore, the Oya River in the Imogiri region is one of the locations for the distribution of local fish seeds as an effort to restore fish in the 2023 fiscal year."Local fish are very vulnerable to rivers with a lot of waste, they cannot breed, but in the Oya River the ecosystem is still good, so we hope it will become a habitat for local fish species to develop," he said. This year, there are at least 32 thousand local fish seeds in the freshwater habitat that are spread in land waters, one of which is in the Oya River."Currently, the younger generation also does not know the local fish type, that's why we reintroduce it by deploying fish seeds or restoring so that later the population will be large, local fish species will not be invasive," he said. His party also invites the public to always maintain the fish population in the Oya River by not making arrests with environmentally friendly tools such as stun, medicine and poison that have the potential to damage the fish ecosystem."We continue to educate and provide counseling to the public so that fishing does not occur that violates the rules which can cause the fish population to run out quickly, because fish that are not yet feasible to catch are all dead," he said.
