Lampung Governor Highlights Potential Agriculture And Plantation As Supporters Of National Food Security And Economy
Lampung Governor Arinal Djunaidi said that this province is one of the strategic agricultural commodity-producing regions that supports national food security. "The province of Lampung has a very extraordinary natural wealth, ranging from marine products to agriculture. Lampung's natural uniqueness makes this province a abundant excess of superior commodities. Its fertile land makes what is planted have good quality," said Governor Arinal, in Bandarlampung, Saturday, August 5. In addition to food, he said, other Lampung's superior commodities, namely the plantation sector contributed high export value and directly helped the country's economy. According to him, the superior commodities of Lampung plantations, among others are robust coffee, Black pepper, cocoa, rubber, inner coconut, palm oil, and sugar cane. However, according to the Governor, synergy and consolidation of all parties, must still be carried out simultaneously, both in the upstream and downstream sectors, because there are still challenges and obstacles that must be faced in realizing a stable and sustainable economic system. "I hope that all stakeholders provide input in order to encourage and maintain Lampung's economic growth, in particular related to efforts that can spur the increase of Lampung's superior commodities," he said. On the other hand, Arinal explained that Lampung has a strategic role in economic development both at the regional and national levels. "The trend of Lampung's economy shows a positive trend, even in the second quarter of 2022, growth reaches 9.12 percent (q-to-q) and becomes the highest in Indonesia," he said. He added that in 2023, the growth of the Lampung quarterly economy on an annual basis grew higher than the Sumatra average, and for the Lampung quarterly became the only province in Sumatra that enjoyed positive economic growth, while the other nine provinces experienced contraction or negative growth.
