Preventing TIP Cases, Banten Police Urges People Not To Be Tempted By Large Salaries Abroad
SERANG - Ditreskrimum Banten Police carried out socialization of the Prevention of Trafficking in Persons (TPPO), Wednesday, June 28. In a talk show, Panit 1 Unit 2 TPPO Sub-Directorate 4 Renakta Banten Police Ipda Wahyu Dwi Martono explained that the TIP case occurred a lot because people were tempted by large salaries.
"The element of the current occurrence of TIP is that many people intend to work abroad but not procedurally and through unofficial agents, which has an impact on trafficking in persons," Wahyu said, in a written statement, Thursday morning, June 29.
Then Wahyu conveyed that the disclosure of the TIP that had been handled by the Banten Police began with reports of abuse experienced by migrant workers or migrant workers who were abroad and the wages received were not in accordance with the agreement and even not paid.
"In the disclosure of the TIP case, usually it stems from reports or viral videos spread on social media related to the mistreatment of TKI or TKW, then we as the police follow up on the incident, we will check from the bottom to the top, how the procedures are in accordance with whether or not and according to the data in Banten, there are quite a lot of TIP disclosures," said Wahyu.
Wahyu emphasized that the Banten Police and their ranks would act decisively against the perpetrators of the Trafficking Crime.
"The Banten Police and their ranks are committed to taking firm action against perpetrators of the Trafficking Crime and inviting the participation of the community not to accept persuasion from brokers who can dispatch them as migrant workers without valid documents. If you have information, immediately report it to the nearest police, "said Wahyu.
Finally, Wahyu appealed to the entire community to be careful of the labor distribution parties and re-examine their legality and be aware of the crime of trafficking in persons.
"To all people to re-examine the legality of the labor distribution party at the Immigration Office and the Office of the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency before approving a work contract, always be aware of the act of trafficking in persons by checking the work contracts given by the labor distribution party, and do not be tempted by the lure of large salaries by working abroad without certainty and legality of the law," Wahyu concluded.
