Capai SEZ Investment IDR 8.5 Trillion In The First Quarter Of 2023
JAKARTA - Secretary General of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Susiwijono Moegiarso said the realization of investment in Special Economic Zones reached IDR 8.5 trillion with an additional 54 business actors operating in SEZs and 10.91 thousand workers absorbed.
"Hopefully this will continue to increase along with the increasing investment climate and trust in our country, as well as the better fundamental macroeconomics," said Susiwijono who is also Plt. Secretary General of the KEK National Council in a statement quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, June 17.
Currently, the government has set 20 SEZs, consisting of 10 Industrial SEZs and 10 Tourism SEZs.
In 2020, the realization of SEZ investment reached IDR 113.3 trillion or grew 51.8 percent on an annual basis with 269 operating business actors and 66.74 thousand workers absorbed.
Susiwijono also appointed the first 6 high-ranking officials to become the Head of the SEZ Administrator at the Coordinating Ministry for Economics, which is expected not only to carry out licensing services, but also supervision and operational control of the SEZ.
"Although the challenges ahead are still full of uncertainty, SEZs are expected to be able to continue to be a source of new economic growth in order to contribute to the national economy and the regional economy," he said.
The Head of the SEZ Administrator is also expected to facilitate the achievement of SEZ development targets.
"DaninsyaallahKEK really embodies it as a source of new economic growth and encourages economic growth in the regions," said Susiwijono.
Based on the mandate of Law Number 39 of 2009 concerning Special Economic Zones as has been amended recently by Law Number 6 of 2023, the National Council of SEZs is tasked with establishing administrators.
The administrator will be tasked with providing business licensing and other licensing services needed by business entities and business actors in SEZs, non-permission services required by business entities and business actors in SEZs, as well as supervision and operational control of GRANDMOTHER.
