NasDem Calls AHY-Puan Meeting Plans Reasonable As Long As It Doesn't Talk About Disbanding Coalition
Chairman of the DPP NasDem Party, Taufik Basari, said that the plan for a meeting between the Chairman of the Democratic Party, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) and the Chairman of the PDI-P DPP, Puan Maharani, was normal, as long as the meeting plan was not in the context of disbanding the coalition.Taufik assessed that the plan to meet AHY and Puan was part of political communication between parties ahead of the 2024 General Election (Pemilu)."The political communication between parties that is currently established is still in good condition," said Taufik at the parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Antara, Tuesday, June 13.Democrats open communication with the PDI-P as part of a political journey. According to him, it is only natural as long as it remains committed that these meetings are not in order to dissolve the coalition, not in order to change support.Taufik said that the Democrats had committed together with the NasDem and the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) in the Coalition for Amendments to Unity (KPP). Therefore, he believes that the plan to meet AHY and Puan will not dissolve the coalition."And of course the Democrats and PKS will not then make the wrong step or rash, yes, to get out of this mutual agreement. I am sure that the Democrats and PKS are also parties that uphold the commitments that have been given," said Taufik.Previously, PDI-P Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto said that Puan Maharani would meet with AHY."Later, Mbak Puan will meet with Mas AHY to have a dialogue," said Hasto to reporters in Tanjung Priok, Jakarta, Saturday, June 10.Deputy Secretary General for Internal Affairs of the PDI-P DPP Utut Adianto said that currently his party is just waiting for the readiness of Puan Maharani and AHY to hold a meeting."We are working on it. If the date is, of course, we are waiting for the readiness of the two him (Puan and AHY) to meet and have a dialogue," said Utut at the TVRI LPP, Central Jakarta, Monday (12/6).In accordance with the stages of the 2024 General Election, the registration of prospective pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates is scheduled from 19 October to 25 November 2023.Based on Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections (UU Pemilu), pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates are proposed by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the election who meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total seats in the DPR or obtaining 25 percent of valid votes nationally in the previous election for members of the DPR.Currently, there are 575 seats in parliament so that the pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election must have at least 115 seats in the DPR RI.
