The Process Of Evacuating A 9-year-old Boy Who Was Dragged By The Dramatic Matras Beach Waves, But The Victim Finally Died In The Hospital

JAKARTA - A child with the initials Al (9) died when he was dragged by sea waves on Matras Sungailiat Beach, Bangka, Bangka Belitung Islands Province (Babel).

Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Bangka Regency, Ridwan, in a statement, in Sungailiat, Sunday, June 11, said Al and his two siblings took a bath on the edge of Matras Beach, where the sea water was receding at that time.

"While bathing near the coastal rocks, suddenly being dragged by the waves, Al and his brother were rescued by other beach visitors and taken to the Medika Sungailiat Hospital," said Ridwan, Antara, June 11.

However, Al, who came from Sinar Sari Village, Kelapa District, West Bangka Regency, died while in hospital at 12.45 WIB.

"Members of the Bangka BPBD together with Laskar Sekaban volunteers accompanied the bodies and delivered the bodies to the funeral home in Sinar Sari Village, Kelapa District, West Bangka Regency," said Ridwan.

Ridwan appealed to all beach visitors to remain vigilant while bathing on the beach, for parents who bring their children and bathe on the beach to be guarded or accompanied.

Head of the Matras Environment, Anggi Meisya, said that entering the Southeast Wind season, the waves and water currents were categorized as high.

"Matras Beach is one of the beaches in Sungailiat Bangka which is visited by many residents both from within the city and outside the city of Bangka Regency, because the beaches are beautiful and easy to reach by vehicles," he said.
