Lukman Sardi Becomes A Pastor Of The Catholic Church, This Is A Struggle That Must Be Passed
JAKARTA - Lukman Sardi was lined up to be the main character in the latest horror film produced by Paragon Pictures, Kuasa Ilang. He will play the character of a Catholic Church priest who usually performs exorcises (extortion of demons with certain ceremonies).
Calling every role a new challenge, Lukman Sardi said that the character he played this time was quite difficult. The reason is, he must adapt it to the image of the audience of a priest.
"If we talk to pastors, people already have an idea of what kind of priest, it's much more difficult in my opinion. So yes, of course the challenge can represent pastors who know what kind of thing, so they have to be really detailed," said Lukman Sardi at the International Design School, South Jakarta on Tuesday, May 30.
More than that, Lukman Sardi said that he was required to be fluent in Latin. As ancient prayers in the exorcism of the Catholic Church are pronounced in Latin, the 51-year-old actor must learn Latin when the scene in the film later.
"The script is also quite a lot of Latin, the mention alone cannot be wrong. I want to ask the romo (a fan of the Catholic Church) what kind of situation this prayer is usually in Latin, what kind of pronunciation it is. So it's important, people want to believe from true stories like that. VERY challenging there," he said.
To be able to play the priest of the Catholic Church to the fullest, Lukman Sardi will discuss directly with church leaders. He hopes to play his character well.
"Yesterday I actually wanted to meet his romo. It's just that, because at that time he was shooting, so I didn't have time to talk again. But later I will talk a lot with his romo. The most important thing for me is how I can represent the priest like the community also sees a priest," said Lukman.
Apart from Lukman Sardi, the film by director Bobby Prasetya also stars Astrid Tiar and Jerome Kurnia. The Dark Power will be shooting in the near future and is planned to hit theaters in 2024.
