The Role Of Ariel, Halle Bailey Is Touched To See The Little Mermaid's Reaction

JAKARTA - Halle Bailey was delighted to see the black children's reaction to her role as Ariel in the film The Little Mermaid. The trailer, which was released last September, has drawn a lot of mixed responses.

But in the midst of this response, one of TikTok users uploaded a video of young black people watching the video.

Halle just found out about the reaction video and invited the children to appear at the premiere of The Little Mermaid.

"When I saw him for the first time, I cried. I couldn't help but cry," Halle Bailey quoted Glamour as saying.

"The fact that they look at me and feel that emotion is a beautiful and fun thing," he continued.

According to him, Ariel's figure is a character that reflects himself and many black people. He hopes that this role can increase their confidence in the future.

"I think he taught me how to stand in my power, how to be confident, how to know I am worthy," explained Halle Bailey.

"This is a transformative experience in my life. You know when a lot of people go to school in those years, I shoot The Little Mermaid so this is my version of college college college lecture. So I'm happy!" Bailey added again.

When Halle Bailey was announced as Ariel in 2019, he received a lot of criticism that led to racism. At that time he was surprised by the many negative comments on the news.

"When negative comments appeared, I was surprised because it wasn't something I anticipated. Then I thought, this isn't the first time I've experienced racism," Halle Bailey told Sunday Mirror.

"My grandmother saw it all and my grandfather remembers the "white skin" fountain. When I remember their experience, I felt that online hatred was not important," he continued.

The film The Little Mermaid was released on Tuesday, May 24 yesterday.
