2 Bank Customers File A Lawsuit To The Central Jakarta District Court For Losing IDR 6.35 Billion

JAKARTA - Two private bank customers, Minarni and Sunardi Sutiaman, filed a lawsuit at the Central Jakarta District Court (PN). This step was taken because they lost Rp6.35 billion in savings and deposits.

"The loss of their deposits and savings was only known three years after the crime was committed," said the attorney for two plaintiffs, Victor Steven P. C. Sianturi in a written statement, Wednesday, May 17.

Victor explained that his client lost money around November 2017. The funds stored were preparations for Minarni and Sunardi's old days.

After realizing that the money was lost, Minarni and Sunardi complained about the matter. Then, the bank took the case to law enforcement and ensnared one of its employees with the initials ER.

"ER has been tried and sentenced to four years in prison on September 17, 2018," said Victor.

Even so, the legal process did not make Minarni and Sunardi's money back. Thus, Victor said his client was harmed by the incident.

Furthermore, the two decided to sue the loss to the Central Jakarta District Court on Thursday, May 11. The lawsuit is registered with case number 286/Pdt.G/2023/PN Jkt.Pst.

Victor hopes that the panel of judges will give a good decision so that his client's savings and deposits can return. "Our client is old and requires refunds for medical expenses and old-age care," he concluded.
