JAKARTA - A driver's car entered a ravine after following the travel directions using the Google Maps application on Jalan Surapati, Sukawangi Village, Garut Regency, West Java, Friday, April 21 in the morning.

Singajaya Police Chief AKP Sahono confirmed the single car accident without bringing passengers into a ravine and causing no casualties. The Toyota Rush driver and car have been evacuated.

"In the car, only the driver alone did not bring passengers and was not injured," said Sahono as quoted by Antara.

He said the incident began when the driver with the initials N (39) departed from Banjar City to Bekas City, but on his way to using the Google Maps application as a travel direction to avoid congestion on the main road.

The incident, said the police chief, occurred on a descent road and the driver could not control the speed of the vehicle so he turned too right on the road which eventually entered a ravine with a depth of approximately 15 meters.

"After leaving Banjar, he wanted to return to Bekasi, in Tasik using Google Maps to avoid congestion through Singajaya," he said.

He conveyed that with this incident, a number of officers on standby for the security of Lebaran were assisted by the community to try to evacuate victims and their cars.

"Currently we have checked and asked for information from victims and witnesses, fortunately the victims survived and there were no casualties or injuries in this incident," he said.

He appealed to the public, especially drivers, to always be careful and vigilant while on the highway, especially on roads that have never been passed.
