Pondok Jati Station Train Crossing Should Be Closed, Government Thinks Flyover Development Or Underpass

JAKARTA - The railroad crossing (KA) Pondok Jati Station on Jalan Palmeriam, Matraman District, East Jakarta, is still an unresolved problem. Starting from long traffic jams to many traffic accidents.

Public Policy Observer from Trisakti University, Trubus Rahadiansyah, said that ideally the railway line should be sterile from any passing vehicle.

"Yes (the crossing must be closed), if there is a crossing, a bridge or underpass will be made," Trubus said when confirmed by VOI, Tuesday, April 18.

Trubus said, such as abroad, the railroad crossing route is sterile from vehicles and residents. Thus, the number of accidents between vehicles and trains can be avoided.

"If it's outside (abroad), it's closed (all train crossings). It must be sterile, no residents should be on the railroad tracks. It must be clean properly," he said.

Meanwhile, regarding the number of traffic accidents at railroad crossings, Trubus said that it was a mistake from the public because it was not disciplined and obedient to existing regulations.

"There is no (responsibility for KAI if there is a vehicle accident at the railroad crossing), it can't be done. KAI can't do it, don't want to. That's actually the busway, if someone is hit by a busway on the busway route, it means it's not a busway business. That's the victim's business. The train must also be returned to the spirit, so that they are responsible," he said.

Effective steps to avoid accidents must be made a flyover or underpass at the Pondok Jati Station train crossing. However, the KAI must collaborate with the DKI Provincial Government.

"The train of fire is responsible only for the rails and its surroundings, but if it is on the rails it is not the responsibility of the train. If you make a flyover and underpass, the responsibility of the provincial government is not a train," he said.
