These Car Tires Experience A Rail, As A Result Of Being Surrounded By A Pandemic?

JAKARTA - Recently, after more than a year of countries in Europe easing social restrictions, reports of car tires experiencing cracks increased significantly, particularly in the UK. Tires with such conditions have the potential to endanger motorists.

"I bought Alfa Romeo in October 2018 with a distance of 34,000 miles and the following month put up the Pirelli P7 tires. In October 2021, when my car underwent a MOT (Ministry of Transport test) test with a distance of 45,326 miles I received a notification if all four tires were lightly damaged, cracked or the rubber was damaged," said Allan Parker, an Alfa Romeo user, reported by Autocar, Friday, April 14.

Many tire workshops blame the cause of this rift due to the pandemic. Covid's outbreak in early 2020 and travel bans and social restrictions caused vehicles to be parked en masse, often for several weeks.

The reason is, modern tires contain candles and chemicals to protect them from destructive ultraviolet light effects and extreme temperatures, and when the vehicle is driven, this substance migrates to the surface of the tires to maintain rubber flexibility.

Well, with this vehicle left unused, the protective chemicals on the side wall of the tires don't work, making them susceptible to recoil and damage to the side.

The problem with this tire fracture was loaded by Autocar after the Kwik Fit workshop, one of the major companies has figures to support its claim that the tires have been affected after Covid.

"Compared to 2018, the proportion of tires we examined in 2021 showed an early crack and an increase of more than 50% and in 2022 it almost doubled the number in 2018," said a company spokesman.

He also continued that his workshop only realized this when he found signs of cracks on the side wall of the tires, which increased significantly.

"Early cracks in tires are usually the result of less use, it seems that the pandemic has been a factor, with many cars being used very little for months, then when they are used regularly, it's clear the difference between tires being easily cracked," he explained.

Autocars reported that many drivers did not realize that their tires were cracked. The rails on tires can cause harm to drivers and passengers, as they can cause fatal accidents. Therefore, it is important for drivers to check the condition of the tires periodically and replace them immediately if cracks or other damage are found.
