Watching Buya Hamka Movies, Iwan Fals Gets A Lot Of Inspiration

JAKARTA - Iwan Fals and his wife, Rosana, were present at the special screening to witness the film Buya Hamka at Plaza Senayan on Wednesday, April 12.

Claiming to only know the figure of Buya Hamka through the media, the singer whose real name is Virgiawan Liestianto expressed his joy to witness the life journey of the nation's figure.

"I've never met (Buya Hamka), I just know from the media. Luckily there is this film, so I know better," said Iwan Fals when met after watching the film Buya Hamka.

Iwan stated that he could not wait to see the continuation of the film directed by Fajar Bustomi. He welcomed the films that displayed the life journey of inspiring national figures.

"I can't wait for the next volume. For me, it's important for a character like Buya Hamka, the more films like this the better," he said.

From the film he just watched, the 61-year-old singer saw an important lesson given, including the relationship between humans and God and humans with one another. He said what Hamka was showing was the right image of Islam as a carrier of peace.

Not only seeing Hamka as an Islamic figure, Iwan was also interested in seeing the character from Minangkabau as a writer. The singer of the song Human half Dewa admitted that he was interested in reading Hamka's book when he watched the film.

"Because of this film, I want to read the book. I saw a lot of good books earlier in the film. I want to read that (the sinking of the Van Der Wijk ship) too," concluded Iean Fals.

Not only Iwan Fals and his wife, the special screening was also attended by Laudya Chyntia Bella and Donny Damara as cast, as well as several other invited guests, including I Gusti Ayu Bintang Darmawati (Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection), Mrs. Jusuf Kala (wife of former Vice President Jusuf Kalla), Meutia Swasono Hatta (Former Minister of Women's Empowerment), Mrs. Taty Hendropriyono, Mrs. Linda Agum Gumelar and others.
