The Ministry Of Industry Projects The Food And Beverage Industry To Grow 7 Percent In 2023
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) projects that the food and beverage industry (mamin) will be able to grow up to seven percent in 2023 or match the growth achievement before the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Director General of Agro Industry at the Ministry of Industry, Putu Juli Ardika, was met after opening the 2023 Eid Bazaar at the Office of the Ministry of Industry in Jakarta, Tuesday, April 11, saying that optimism was also supported by industry players' optimism for current conditions.
"Proyeksinya mamin ini bisa tumbuh antara 5-7 persen," katanya, dikutip dari Antara.
Putu said the food and beverage industry itself has continued to grow significantly since the pandemic. In 2022, the sector grew to 4.9 percent, a significant increase compared to the same period the previous year of 2.54 percent.
On the other hand, based on the Industrial Trust Index (IKI), the food industry is also noted to be still strong in expansion. Likewise, industrial optimism in the sector is considered quite high.
"For the next six months, industry players will state that they are very optimistic, most of them yesterday were 76 percent (expressively optimistic about continuing expansion)," he said.
Putu also said that positive growth is also projected to match the achievements before the COVID-19 pandemic. The reason is, industrial utilization in the food and beverage sector has also matched the utilization before the pandemic.
"Before the pandemic, it was around 6-7 percent (growth) for makin. From utilization, it was almost the same as before the pandemic," he said.
The Ministry of Industry noted that the non-oil and gas processing industry in 2022 contributed 16.48 percent to the national GDP, where the largest contribution to the non-oil and gas processing industry was given by the food and gas industry at 38.35 percent.
The contribution of the export value of food and beverage products until the fourth quarter of 2022 reached 48.61 billion US dollars or contributed 16.65 percent of the total national exports. The import value was 16.52 billion US dollars, causing the trade balance value to be a surplus of 32.09 billion US dollars.
