Alfa Romeo Requires Substitute For Stelvio In 2026

JAKARTA - The Italian car brand, Alfa Romeo confirmed that Alfa Romeo Stelvio's successor and also a sedan will be present in 2026. The car will be powered by electricity.

This car will later carry a style similar to Stelvio's current production and will be equipped with Stellantis' STLA Large platform, which will also be used in Alfa Romeo's latest electric sedan.

It also continues what Alfa Romeo has achieved by becoming the most sales for the European market, as many as 16,009 units were sold last year.

Alfa Romeo will present the electric sedan one year after the successor to the Stelvio SUV is released. They will focus on convenience and reach, this will be an important step for manufacturers to boost popularity for the US and Chinese markets.

Reporting from Autocar, Thursday, April 6, Imparato hinted that this will appear the latest sedan in the future.

"When you talk about reach, you talk about sedans," said Imparato as quoted by Autocar, Thursday, April 6, 2023.

The car is rumored to have a sleek design and in terms of aerodynamics it will be optimized which can help it capture a high maximum range and will also match rivals such as Lucid Air and Mercedes-Benz EQS.

With the STLA platform from Stellantis, this car can use a battery with a capacity of kWh which can reach more than 724 km.

This was approved by Imparato, who previously stated that the replacement for Alfa Romeo Giulia has been confirmed from an electric car, which will later share the platform with Stelvio's successor, which is expected to be able to advance with a range of about 700 km according to the WLTP.

Given that these sedans and SUVs will share the same platform, they will also likely share a drivetrain that will be embedded which will allow it to be powered from 340 dk to its sporty variant of around 779 dk.

It is also possible that these two new EV models will share the same Alfa Romeo factory, namely in Cassino, Italy, but this has not been officially confirmed.
