Indonesia Cancels Hosting World Cup, Assistant Shin Tae-yong: These Tears Must Fall
JAKARTA - The hope of the Indonesian U-20 national team players to take part in the Central World Cup. FIFA decided to revoke Indonesia's status as the host of the 2023 U-20 World Cup.
This means that the quota for appearing as the host is also revoked. This clearly makes the players and coaches disappointed.
The reason is, the struggle and hard work during the preparations so far have been in vain because they canceled their appearance at the big event.
Assistant coach of the Indonesian U-20 national team, Nova Arianto, is among the most disappointed. He admitted that he could feel the sadness and pain of the players after receiving news that FIFA had revoked the status of Indonesia's host.
"Finally, these tears had to fall because I could feel what this young player felt. Where all the hard work and sacrifices that have been made so far have been in vain," wrote Nova Arianto on his Instagram account, Thursday, March 30.
According to him, the U-20 World Cup should be a bridge for young players to play abroad. However, that opportunity eventually disappeared.
"Continue your struggle because your journey is still long, you must have other dreams and that is what you must fight for," continued the former Persib Bandung player.
Nova hopes that there will be no sanctions that will emphasize Indonesian football. "Because life continues and Indonesian football must continue to grow in a better direction," he concluded.
As previously reported, FIFA officially revoked Indonesia's status as host of the U-20 World Cup due to the current situation in the country. This is allegedly due to the swift rejection of the Israeli team's participation in the U-20 World Cup.
The rejection also came from the Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo and Bali Governor I Wayan Koster. In fact, Ganjar's Instagram account was invaded by Indonesian U-20 national team players who were disappointed.
